The Astro+ is the box for the pilot who flies on a tablet and wants it to show more than a map: an AHRS for attitude, a WAAS GPS for position, and a dual-band ADS-B In receiver for traffic and weather, streamed to the EFB over WiFi. This is the version built to be installed rather than carried.
What is different
Both antennas are remote — a GPS antenna and an ADS-B antenna on leads — and the mounting brackets are in the box. The unit itself can then go behind the panel, under a seat or in a baggage bay, while the antennas go where the reception is: with a view of the sky, clear of the airframe and the people in it.
Why that matters
An AHRS reports the attitude of whatever it is bolted to, so a bracketed, repeatable mounting is what keeps the horizon honest. And ADS-B reception is line of sight — an antenna in a shadowed position shows up as traffic that appears late or not at all.
What it gives the tablet
