Details.

The Astro+ is the box for the pilot who flies on a tablet and wants it to show more than a map. Inside it is an AHRS for attitude, a WAAS GPS for position, and a dual-band ADS-B In receiver for traffic and, where the service exists, weather — all streamed to the EFB over WiFi, with nothing else needed in the panel.

What it gives the tablet

  • Attitude — a backup horizon, from the same no-drift AHRS technology as the iLevil range
  • Position — WAAS GPS, better than the tablet's own
  • Traffic and weather — ADS-B In on 978 and 1090 MHz

This version

Internal GPS antenna, external ADS-B antenna. The external antenna is what turns an ADS-B receiver that mostly works into one that sees traffic at useful range: an antenna inside the cockpit is shadowed by the airframe, by you and by whatever is in the baggage area. For a permanent installation away from the windows, the version with remote antennas for both GPS and ADS-B, and mounting brackets, is the one to choose.

Portable or fixed

Carry it between aircraft with the built-in battery, or mount it permanently and power it from the aircraft with the Astro+ harness. Pair it with an iris EFIS Pro display for a panel-mounted screen.

This one for a portable unit that can see the sky. For a permanent installation away from the windows, the version with remote GPS and ADS-B antennas and mounting brackets.

Can it feed a panel-mounted screen?

Yes — an iris EFIS Pro display connects over WiFi and becomes a panel-mounted primary flight display for it.
