Details.
The GPS inside a Levil unit is a WAAS receiver, and it works best with an antenna that can see the satellites. When the unit itself is installed behind the panel or under a seat, this remote antenna goes where the unit cannot: on the glareshield, under a non-conductive cover, anywhere with sky above it.
When you need it
For a permanently installed iLevil 3 AW, iLevil AP or Astro+ that has lost its own view of the sky. It is Levil's own antenna, matched to the receiver in the unit. For an installation through the airframe skin with a ground plane, the RAMI AV-801 is the heavier-duty alternative.
Placement
Mount it horizontally, clear of carbon and metal, and route the lead away from COM antenna cables.
