Details.

The KTX2-F.v2 is the same second-generation Mode-S transponder as the KTX2-S.v2, built into the 160 mm stack format — the flat, wide unit that slides into a radio stack beside a KRT2 or a nav/com, rather than into a round instrument hole. Same electronics, same approvals, same low current draw; a different shape for a different panel.

Mode S, Class 1

A Class 1 Mode-S transponder, approved to 30,000 ft and 250 kt, with the elementary and enhanced surveillance the airspace around you increasingly expects. The altitude encoder is inside the unit, so there is no separate encoder to buy, wire or fail. The antenna connection is a loop-through design: one transponder antenna serves both Mode S and ADS-B.

A display for the stack

The F.v2 carries a transflective TFT colour display — the kind that gets more readable in direct sunlight, not less — because a radio stack in a powered aircraft sits where the sun reaches it.

ADS-B Out when you want it

Add a compatible GPS source — the ADS-B Out kits pair one with the harness and a low-noise DC/DC converter — and the KTX2 broadcasts your position to everything around you. Where the transponder was delivered without the function enabled, the ADS-B Out upgrade code switches it on.

In the stack

  • 160 mm stack format, 158.4 × 41 × 155.8 mm, approx. 580 g
  • Mode S, Class 1; max 30,000 ft, 250 kt
  • Integrated altitude encoder
  • ADS-B Out capable with a GPS source; loop-through antenna, no separate ADS-B antenna
  • Transflective TFT colour display
  • Made in Germany

Also available as the KTX2-S.v2 for a standard 57 mm cutout.

Questions pilots ask.

Does it need a separate altitude encoder?

No — the altitude encoder is inside the unit.

Does it do ADS-B Out?

Yes, with a compatible GPS source: the ADS-B Out kits pair a certified receiver with the harness and a low-noise DC/DC converter, or a GPS mouse on the KBS1X harness. If the transponder was delivered without the function enabled, the ADS-B Out upgrade code switches it on.

S or F?

The F.v2 slides into a 160 mm radio stack beside a KRT2 or a nav/com; the S.v2 is the same transponder in a round 57 mm instrument body.
