KTX2-S.v2 Mode-S transponder
TQ's Mode-S Class 1 transponder in the standard 57 mm format, fully re-engineered as the v2: 380 g, integrated altitude encoder, colour display, ADS-B Out ready.
- Second-generation Mode-S Class 1 transponder in the round 57 mm format — 380 g, integrated altitude encoder
- ADS-B Out ready: add a GPS source and the KTX2 broadcasts your position; one loop-through antenna serves both
- Same footprint and harness as the original KTX2 — a v2 replaces a v1 in the same hole

Details.
The KTX2-S.v2 is the second generation of TQ's compact Mode-S transponder, in the round 57 mm format that fits the hole an older transponder or an instrument left behind. It weighs 380 g, has its altitude encoder built in, and draws little enough that a glider's battery does not notice it.
Mode S, Class 1
A Class 1 Mode-S transponder, approved to 30,000 ft and 250 kt, with the elementary and enhanced surveillance the airspace around you increasingly expects. The altitude encoder is inside the unit, so there is no separate encoder to buy, wire or fail. The antenna connection is a loop-through design: one transponder antenna serves both Mode S and ADS-B — no second antenna.
ADS-B Out when you want it
The KTX2.v2 is built for ADS-B Out. Add a compatible GPS source — the ADS-B Out kits pair one with the harness and a low-noise DC/DC converter — and the KTX2 broadcasts your position to everything around you. Where the transponder was delivered without the function enabled, the ADS-B Out upgrade code switches it on.
The v2 changes
Re-engineered electronics with lower current draw, a high-contrast TFT colour display readable in a bright cockpit, and the same panel footprint as the original KTX2 — so a v2 replaces a v1 in the same hole with the same harness.
In the panel
- Standard 57 mm format, 63 × 62 × 149 mm, approx. 380 g
- Mode S, Class 1; max 30,000 ft, 250 kt
- Integrated altitude encoder
- ADS-B Out capable with a GPS source; loop-through antenna, no separate ADS-B antenna
- High-contrast TFT colour display
- Made in Germany
Also available as the KTX2-F.v2 for a 160 mm radio stack. An LX 10K, Era or Navia system can drive the KTX2 over its data port — ask us before you order for a Navia installation.
Questions pilots ask.
Does it need a separate altitude encoder?
No — the altitude encoder is inside the unit.
Does it do ADS-B Out?
Yes, with a compatible GPS source: the ADS-B Out kits pair a certified receiver with the harness and a low-noise DC/DC converter, or a GPS mouse on the KBS1X harness. If the transponder was delivered without the function enabled, the ADS-B Out upgrade code switches it on.
Do I need a second antenna for ADS-B?
No — the antenna connection is a loop-through design; one transponder antenna serves Mode S and ADS-B.
S or F?
The S is the round 57 mm instrument for a standard cutout; the F.v2 is the same electronics in the 160 mm radio-stack format.
