ADS-B Out is the transponder telling everyone where you are, and for that it needs a position source it can trust. Kit 2 gives a KTX2 exactly that: a GPS receiver with firmware adapted to aviation standards, wired into a harness with a low-noise DC/DC converter built in, so the receiver is powered cleanly and connects directly. You connect DC power and the transponder antenna; the rest is done.

Kit 2 or Kit 3

The two kits are the same harness and converter with a different GPS receiver: Kit 2 carries the NL-8339P, Kit 3 the NL-3330. Both are approved sources for the KTX2. If you are matching an existing installation or a receiver already mounted on the aircraft, choose the kit with the same receiver; if you are starting from nothing, either completes the job.

Kit 2 or Kit 3?

The same harness and converter with a different GPS receiver: Kit 2 carries the NL-8339P, Kit 3 the NL-3330. Both are approved sources for the KTX2 — match an existing receiver if you have one, otherwise either completes the job.

Do I also need the upgrade code?

Only if the transponder was delivered without ADS-B Out enabled.
