The KRT2 has two microphone inputs and expects either a standard electret microphone or a dynamic one. Some dynamic microphones — older headsets, hand mics, certain intercoms — deliver too little signal to modulate the transmitter fully, and the tower hears you faint and thin. The DA-01 sits in the microphone cable and brings that signal up to what the radio wants.
Where it goes
In line between the microphone and the radio's input, powered from the radio. No adjustment on the unit itself; the modulation level is then set on the KRT2 as normal.
When you need it
If your transmissions are weak on a dynamic microphone that works fine on another radio, this is the fix. Electret microphones do not need it.
