The BOM's standard bracket hangs the pod under the wing. On a strut-braced aircraft the strut is often the better place: it is structural, it is accessible, it is in clean air ahead of the wing, and it leaves the wing's underside alone. The universal strut mount clamps the BOM to the strut.
Why it matters where the BOM goes
The pod measures airspeed and angle of attack from its own probes, so it needs undisturbed airflow, and it makes its own power from that airflow, so it needs to be out in it. A strut mount puts the pod exactly there without cutting into a fabric or composite wing.
