Navia Sense is where the Navia system measures the air. This is the version for a powered aircraft: calibrated pressure sensors for airspeed to 250 kt and altitude, an AHRS for attitude, an outside-air-temperature input, and a GNSS receiver running at 25 Hz — the highest refresh rate in its class — with SBAS correction. It is the same housing and the same connectors as every other Sense, so the installation manual is the same for all of them.

Which Sense for an aeroplane

  • Sense Airplane — this unit: airspeed, altitude, AHRS, OAT, GNSS
  • Sense Airplane Pro — adds an angle-of-attack pressure sensor
  • Sense Airplane Pro HS — the Pro with a high-speed sensor, for aircraft to 500 kt

The standard sensors are 0–100 mbar differential, exceptionally accurate up to 250 kt; the HS exists because faster aircraft exceed what they can measure.

Redundant by design

Paired with the Core Pro, the Sense gives the system its own air data and its own position, so a failure elsewhere does not take the flight instruments with it. Optional field pressure calibration keeps the readings honest over the years.

In the box

The Sense unit, its GNSS antenna, and the OAT sensor with crimped pins ready for the J300 connector set. The Sense wires to a serial port on the Core Pro; the J300 connector set is the mating half.

How does it connect?

To a serial port of the Navia Core Pro; the J300 connector set is the counterpart. The pressure lines connect to M5 ports — the M5 to 6 mm push-in adapter fits standard aircraft tubing.
