IN SHORT
  • The antenna the Navia Sense ships with — as a spare, or the one a second Sense needs

Details.

The Navia Sense runs its GNSS receiver at 25 Hz, and a receiver is only as good as the antenna feeding it. This is the antenna the Sense ships with — an active, high-gain multi-band GNSS antenna on a 1.5 m lead with an SMA connector — supplied on its own as a replacement, or as the spare a second Sense needs.

Where it goes

On the outside of the fuselage, or under a non-conductive cover, with a clear view of the sky; never under a carbon or metal panel. It mounts horizontally with the GNSS marking up. Route the lead away from COM transceivers and their antenna cables.

Why it matters more on a Sense

The Sense's flight logs are digitally signed, and the signature depends on a continuous fix. An antenna in a shadowed position does not only cost you tracking accuracy — it can cost you the validity of an IGC file.
