IN SHORT
  • Turns one CAN port into two — a vario indicator, an AHRS module, a joystick interface or a rear-seat unit joins a bus that was full
  • Not a FLARM splitter: a FLARM port is a different thing on the same RJ45

Details.

Every LX instrument on the CAN bus has ports, and every port is eventually used. The splitter adds one: it plugs into a CAN port and gives you two, so a vario indicator, an AHRS module, a joystick interface or a rear-seat unit can join a bus that was full.

How it works

The CAN bus is a bus — every device sees every message, whichever port it is on — so a split port is not a compromise, only a connector. Data and power pass through to both branches.

Not for FLARM

This splits the CAN bus. A FLARM port is a different thing on the same RJ45, and has its own splitter — the FLARM splitter. Read the wiring rules in the knowledge base before you connect anything.

Questions pilots ask.

Is a split port a compromise?

No — the CAN bus is a bus, every device sees every message whichever port it is on. Data and power pass through to both branches.
