Atmo on the Era you already fly

Every Era carries the motion sensors Atmo needs, so this licence turns the instrument already in your panel into a 3D wind and airmass vario system — no new hardware, no panel work, nothing to send in. Atmo measures the wind in straight flight as well as in circles, and the rising or sinking of the air itself, with no compass and no second GNSS antenna. Discover Atmo.

What you get in the cockpit

  • Wind page — the current and the average wind as arrows and numbers, live in straight flight and in circles
  • Smart vario — a second, cyan needle on the vario scale, a Smart Vario navbox and, if you choose, the vario sound: gust-immune in cruise and on thermal entry, the climb you actually achieve once you are established in a thermal
  • Self-calibration — airspeed-system error and air density are learned in flight
  • Second seat and flight apps — the values are shared over CAN with a second-seat instrument and sent to flight apps in the LX NMEA sentences

How it is delivered

The licence is made for one instrument: enter the six-digit serial number of your Era at checkout, or later from the link in your confirmation e-mail, and download the licence file Fusion.lic. Then:

  1. Update the Era to the current firmware.
  2. Copy Fusion.lic to the root of the micro SD card.
  3. Choose Setup › Service › Load license and select the file.
  4. Switch the Era off and on again — Atmo starts at the next power-up.

The step-by-step guide is in the knowledge base.

Applies to

Era 80, Era 57 and Era essential of the first generation, and the Era essential 57 Gen 2. The Era 57 Gen 2 ships with Atmo enabled.

Questions pilots ask.

Which instruments can run Atmo?

Era 80, Era 57 and Era essential of the first generation, and the Era essential 57 Gen 2. The Era 57 Gen 2 ships with its Atmo licence already installed.

How do I install the licence?

Update the Era to the current firmware, copy Fusion.lic to the root of the micro SD card, choose Setup › Service › Load license, select the file and switch the Era off and on again. The full guide is in the knowledge base.

Can I move the licence to another Era?

No. The licence file is computed from the serial number of one instrument and works only on that unit. If the Era moves to another glider, Atmo moves with it.

Does a second-seat instrument need its own licence?

No. A second-seat Era on the same CAN bus shows the wind and smart vario of the front instrument, as long as both run current firmware.

I have an LX AHRS module. Does Atmo change my AHRS page?

Yes. With Atmo running, the Era's AHRS page shows Atmo's own attitude estimate instead of the module's; an iLevil or gMicro connected to the Era still takes precedence. Compare the two on the ground and in your first flights.
